In an effort to bring cheer and the joy of Christmas to underprivileged families, 50 families and 100 children from Kampung Annah Rais were given monetary assistance and everyday life necessities that totalled RM40,000 as Christmas treat by the Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF).

The children and families arrived at AEON MALL Kuching Central at approximately 9.15am and were welcomed by 50 volunteers across AEON Group Malaysia. After a short briefing, the children and families were invited to head into the AEON MALL Kuching Central where they were each given RM200 to purchase clothes and necessities from the AEON Store.

The smiles on the children’s faces reflects the genuine happiness of being able to choose their favourite items for Christmas. Their infectious grins and chatter filled the Store, making it a magical day for everyone there. After the shopping session, the group were then transported to the Grand Continental Hotel, Kuching for a sumptuous lunch. Those who were present enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch spread prepared especially for them.

After the delicious lunch, it was time for even more goodies. The families were ushered up the stage to receive goodie bags filled with RM100 worth of daily necessities such as rice, oil and flour. The families also received monetary aid worth RM200 to help these families enjoy a merrier Christmas. The children also received money packets worth RM50 each.

The joyful day was made merrier with the presence of YB Chong Chieng Jen, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and Mr. Kenji Fujita, Vice President of Malaysian AEON Foundation cum Managing Director of AEON Credit Service Bhd. The top management of AEON Group and the counsel members of Dayak Bidayuh National Association were also present to witness this meaningful event.

Speaking at the prize giving ceremony, Mr. Kenji Fujita says, “We are constantly trying to fulfil the hopes and dreams of the community we serve, and we truly hope that this merry day out have spread the joy and happiness of Christmas.”

Before departing from the Grand Continental Hotel, the group came together for a group photo to commemorate the event. Both children and adults went home with smiles on their faces and gladness in their hearts.

In line with its mission, MAF have contributed over RM10 million to worthy causes.
