Kuala Lumpur – 10 January 2018 – AEON CO. (M) BHD. has been made aware of a scam prize contest named ‘AEON JOLLY’ using AEON’s name. The scam involves a prize money of RM350, 000 from supposedly ‘Atur Cara Bonus Khas Pasar raya Aeon Jolly’ to unsuspecting members of the public, through email with the title ‘AEON BONUS’. Winners are randomly selected by the scammers through their email address and are given a ticket number. Winners of this scheme are then required to contact the promotion’s payout office via email at aeonbonus@outlook.my & aeonbonus@gmx.com together with their personal details such as full name, address, age, residential address, birthdate and direct contact number. The scammers will then supposedly proceed to dispatch the sum of RM350,000 to the respective winners.

We would like to confirm that we at AEON CO. (M) BHD. and its’ Directors are not involved in this supposed promotion and the email and any social media posts related to it are a scam which uses AEON’s brand without authorisation to lure the public to participate in their scheme.

We strongly advice all our customers and the public not to respond to such messages email or schemes and to avoid providing any personal details relating to this matter.

AEON CO. (M) BHD. (AEON) would like to alert members of the public and its customers on the recent fraudulent promotional and marketing activities by persons or companies using AEON’s name, logo and/or board members’ names in schemes that aim to deceive the public of their money and obtain sensitive information. Their modus operandi include, among others, telling members of the public and its customers that they are selected or lucky contest winners of AEON promotional and marketing activities.

AEON wishes to highlight to members of the public and its customers that AEON is not involved in all these activities or schemes which are scam. They use AEON’s name, logo and/or board members’ names without authorisation to lure members of the public and its customers to participate in their activities or schemes. AEON does not appoint any external 3rd party to run any of its marketing or promotional campaigns UNLESS AEON has officially announced such appointments to members of the public and its customers.

As such, AEON would like to advise the members of the public and its customers to be alert and not to respond to any emails, social media posts or any personnel with any such dubious schemes which could well be scams. Members of the public and its customers are further encouraged to contact AEON directly through its dedicated hotline 1-300-80-AEON (2366) or email to feedback@aeonretail.com.my to report any scam or clarify any information.

Kuala Lumpur — 7 January 2020 — AEON CO. (M) BHD. has been made aware of a promotion scam using AEON’s name in collaboration with 1O! Corporation Berhad and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), sponsored by Maybank and RHB Bank.

The scam involves a prize money of RM 300,000 for ‘AEON 2020 — Happy New Year Promotion/ AEON Promosi Program 2020’ to unsuspecting members of the public. Winners are randomly selected through their email address and are given a lucky number. Winners of this scheme are then required to contact the promotion’s payout office via email to aeonretail@outlook.my with their personal information such as full name, address, age, occupation and direct contact number. The scammers will then supposedly proceed to dispatch the sum of RM 300,000 to the respective winners.

Kuala Lumpur — 2 February 2020 – AEON CO. (M) BHD. has been made aware of free AEON Gifts Vouchers (“Vouchers”) give away scam that circulating via WhatsApp mobile application (“WhatsApp”). This scam requires individuals to share the said free Vouchers give away news with friends through WhatsApp. The user will be directed to a webpage that entitles the user to receive Vouchers within five minutes after the news have been shared.

We would like to confirm that we at AEON CO. (M) BHD. are not involved in this supposed promotion and the posting on WhatsApp or any other social media related to it is a scam which uses AEON’s brand name without authorization, to lure the public to participate in this activity.

We strongly advise all our customers and the public to be alert or not to respond to such messages to avoid involving in this scam.

In the wake of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak, AEON CO. (M) BHD. has embarked on enforcing stringent measures throughout AEON Shopping Centres, AEON General Merchandise Store (GMS), AEON Wellness, Daiso and MaxValu around the country to ensure that all AEON retail outlets are immaculately clean, hygiene and safe besides curbing the spread of the disease.

As part of the pertinent efforts, all AEON staff has to undergo a temperature check before entering the AEON retail outlets and are required to wear mask.

We are also constantly disinfecting the areas and equipment that have direct contact with customers mainly cashier counter, trolley, basket, baby room and changing diaper station, table and chairs at the food court area, wash room, and other common areas. These areas will be cleaned three times a day at 11am, 4pm and 8pm respectively. We are also sanitizing the railing of the escalators, elevators and benches from time to time.

For our customers, hand sanitizer dispensers are made available at the main entrance, the trolley area, wash room area, food court and baby room, and entrance of the children play land. We have also increased the frequency of sanitation at children play land & children ride equipment (including at Kidszoona & Molly Fantasy Playground) to three times a day at 11am, 4pm and 8pm respectively.

In an effort to create awareness about the coronavirus, posters are currently displayed at high visible area such as the main entrance board, Customer Service Counter, all washrooms, cashier counters and food court area.

We will continue to enforce these measures as we strive to create a healthy, hygienic and safe environment for a pleasant and worry-free shopping experience.

Kuala Lumpur – 28 January 2021 – We have been made aware of fake news circulating on the internet that AEON CO. (M) BHD. is closing down nationwide. The purportedly closing down announcement is giving away branded products to the customers.

We would like to confirm that the above announcement is untrue and baseless.

All of AEON Malls and Stores are operating in full capacity and business is as usual.

We refer to the TikTok video that was uploaded by @QueenRanggi with regards to her concerns and dissatisfactions on the Lay’s Max Prik Zab Zeed Potato Chips.

1. We, AEON CO. (M) BHD. or AEON (formerly known as Jaya Jusco) take this matter very seriously.

2. We have immediately conducted our internal investigations as soon as we were notified about this matter. The results of our internal investigations are as follows:

  • The said product sold at AEON stores nationwide do not contain any non-halal ingredients. The wordings “BBQ Prik” shown on the product packaging means Spicy (“Chili”) BBQ flavour in the Thai language. This has been further clarified by the manufacturer, Pepsi Cola (Thai) Trading Company and posted by PEPSICO (M) SDN. BHD. on Lay’s Malaysia FB account on 20 September 2021.
  • The product is produced at a factory in Thailand that is halal-certified by a local halal certification body recognised by JAKIM Malaysia.

3. Accordingly, we have contacted @QueenRanggi to inform her of the information above.

4. With the above explanation, we request @QueenRanggi to clarify the matter via her TikTok @dQueenRanggi to provide a true picture of the situation as well as to manage the perception of other customers who may be confused with her previous TikTok post.

5. We always value the sincere feedback we receive and we are always committed to ensure the satisfaction of our customers by, among others, verifying the sources of our products. We will continue to strive to further improve our internal processes as well as the way we work to ensure the best possible shopping experience for our customers.

6. We also wish to inform that we had a meeting with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs on 20 September 2021 and they found that the product had no issues and the complaint was unfounded. As a measure to protect the reputation of the company and business, we have also lodged a police report for the purpose of protecting the AEON brand as well as addressing customers’ perceptions and confidence of AEON.
