Teeing Off for a Good Cause
Kuala Lumpur, 29 April 2015
The “With All Our Hearts” Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF) is constantly and tirelessly looking for ways to raise more funds to help people in need, especially underprivileged children.
This year marks the inaugural Malaysian AEON Foundation Golf Tournament for Charity and this momentous event had attracted 120 golfers with hearts of gold. The golfers gathered on a beautiful blue sky morning on the pristine greens of Glenmarie Golf & Country Club today and teed off with great anticipation.
These participants consist of business partners of AEON Co. (M) Bhd., AEON Credit Service (M) Bhd. and AEON Big (M) Sdn. Bhd. It is with heartfelt gratitude and happiness for the MAF to announce that this successful Charity Golf Project had managed to raise RM65,000 worth of funds to help those in need.
The funds raised will be channelled to various charities and projects such as the BEST (Basic Education Support) Project, individuals with medical illness and disadvantaged children. Since the establishment of the Malaysian AEON Foundation, RM7 million in funds were disbursed to help those in need. The funds raised today will be used to continue helping the community that AEON Malaysia is operating in.
After the golfers finished their game, a scrumptious lunch was served at the clubhouse. It was also during lunch the participants witnessed the handover ceremony of donations to three welfare homes from the event’s Guest of Honour, Her Royal Highness, The Queen of Malaysia, Tuanku Hajah Haminah. The homes are Yayasan Chow Kit, Little Sisters of The Poor Kuala Lumpur and Yayasan Anak-anak Yatim Sultanah Haminah (Kedah).
It was also during this ceremony that two high school graduates received RM5, 000 in donation to help them prepare for college or university in collaboration with ERA Radio station. Nor Syafiq Mohamad (5A) and Nor Hidayah Ahmad (9A) came from an impoverished family and they were a victim of the recent East Coast floods in Kelantan. They were randomly selected based on their needs and also their excellent SPM results.
