MALAYSIAN AEON FOUNDATION EXTENDS AID TO MYANMAR EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
Kuala Lumpur, 7 July 2025 – In a heartfelt response to the devastating earthquake that struck Mandalay, Sagaing, and Shan State in Myanmar this past March, the Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF), AEON CO. (M) BHD.(AEON) and AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad (ACS) have successfully concluded the Myanmar Earthquake Donation Drive, raising a total of RM300,000.
The donation was officially presented by Ng Eng Kiat, President of MAF, accompanied by Naoya Okada and Daisuke Maeda, both Vice Presidents of MAF, to Louise Aubin, UNHCR Representative in Malaysia. The simple yet meaningful handover ceremony was held at the UNHCR Malaysia Headquarters on Jalan Bukit Petaling, Kuala Lumpur. This initiative reaffirms MAF’s unwavering commitment to supporting victims and families affected by natural disasters.
Launched in May 2025, the initiative received generous contributions from individuals, stakeholders, and customers nationwide. Donations were collected through loose coin boxes placed strategically at AEON Stores and AEON Malls across the country, as well as via the AEON Foundation website.
On 28 March 2025, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, causing widespread devastation. Thousands lost their lives, many more were injured, and countless others were left without shelter. Critical infrastructure including hospitals, schools, and communication networks was destroyed, cutting off access to basic services such as healthcare, clean water, and electricity.
The Malaysian AEON Foundation, as the corporate responsibility arm of AEON Group Malaysia, remains steadfast in its mission to support vulnerable communities. MAF’s efforts go beyond immediate disaster relief, striving to uplift communities through access to education, shelter, and medical assistance. MAF is also committed to nurturing future generations, empowering them to address modern social challenges regardless of race or religion, and helping them build a more meaningful and sustainable future.
