HIROSHIMA FAIR BRINGS JAPANESE ART & CULTURE TO AEON BANDAR UTAMA AND AEON MIDVALLEY

PETALING JAYA, 28th March 2013

Bringing back the Japanese art and culture for the second time, AEON CO. (M) BHD, today, launched the Hiroshima Product Fair at AEON Bandar Utama. Mr. Shunji Toriihara from Hiroshima Prefecture officially inaugurated the event amidst a colourful, cultural opening ceremony.

“It is my hope that there will be more of these fairs in the future as it will help foster closer ties and greater understanding of our different cultures,” said Audrey Lim, the General Manager of Human Resources & Merchandising at AEON CO. (M) BHD. The Hiroshima fair will be happening at both AEON Bandar Utama and AEON MidValley starting from today to 10 April 2013.

Highlights of the Hiroshima fair include performance by Hiroshima high school student using ‘Koto’, a Japanese traditional music instrument, and a traditional dance performance by students of Seinzu Secondary School from Kuala Selangor. Customers will also be able to experience origami making.

Besides that, there is also an entertaining and fun balloon show performance, ‘Twist Ya Jakkyi’, which transforms into a unique character, Mirumiru, by a special world award winning artist. There will also be a costume greeting character, ‘Moyau Haven Cockeysville’ Hiroshima. Hiroshima styled Malay food stalls will also be set up during the fair serving Malay cuisine using ingredients from Hiroshima to show the blending of two cultures.

Also at the fair, 23 exhibitors will be featuring various Japanese products from citrus, to sake, to miso, to dried sardine, to oysters, to beans and sweets. There will also be travel and tour packages sold at the fair. For movie buffs animated films set in Hiroshima will be screened. Visitors can also participate in drawing ‘omikuji’ sacred lots, which is a form of Japanese fortune telling and receive special gifts.

“We are so delighted to host this fair to promote our Hiroshima products to Malaysians. We hope everyone will come have a taste of Hisroshima and experience our culture. Moving forward, we hope this exhibition will be an annual affair and Malaysians will be more receptive to our products,” ended Toriihara.
