Kuala Lumpur, 6 December 2019 

As part of an ongoing community activity which started more than 15 years ago, the Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF), through its AEON Mesra programmes, kicked-off a nationwide Christmas shopping event on 5th December 2019 at its Taman Maluri Shopping Centre. Following that similar events will be held on 7th and 14th December at nine other AEON and AEON BiG outlets across the country.

AEON Mesra Christmas this year will see the participation of 500 children who will shop for presents and clothes this Christmas. Each child will be given RM200 to shop at 5 AEON outlets respectively; AEON Taman Maluri, AEON Tebrau City, AEON Ipoh, AEON Bukit Mertajam and AEON Kuching ; and RM150 for AEON BiG outlets; AEON BiG Midvalley, AEON BiG Ampang, AEON BiG Subang Jaya, AEON BiG Penang Prai and AEON BiG Sutera Utama to shop.

On the invitation of AEON Taman Maluri, kids from Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor; Rumah Ozanam, Petaling Jaya; and Rumah Charis were not only be given the opportunity to shop, but they were also entertained by games at AEON’s indoor entertainment centre Molly Fantasy. After the shopping, the children joined the foundation members for lunch where they each received an additional RM50 cash gift or duit raya.

“We all know that nothing brightens the smiles of children like unwrapping a gift boxed present. We hope that the AEON gifts which the children have chosen for themselves will bring much happiness and laughter to all this Christmas,” said Datin Yasmin Merican, President of the Malaysian AEON Foundation.

The event at AEON Taman Maluri Shopping Centre and Berjaya Times Square Hotel was attended by YBhg. Tuan Mohd Shahran Mohd Arshad, Deputy Director, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs; YBhg. Datin Yasmin Merican, President of the Malaysian AEON Foundation; Mr Shinobu Washizawa and Mr Yuro Kisaka, Vice Presidents of the MAF, MAF Committee Members and the Senior Management of the AEON Group of Companies.
