Kuala Lumpur, 18 April 2017
AKEMI, Malaysia’s leading bed linens and home furnishings brand (under Eastern Decorator Group of Companies), has relaunched its bed linen collections made of ProModal® fibres and officially kicked off its “Bring Your Old Bed Linen for A Special Price on Bed Linen of ProModal®” campaign, in collaboration with its retail partner; AEON CO. (M) BHD. The event was officiated by Ms Susan Koay, Group COO of Eastern Decorator Group of Companies, Mr Poh Ying Loo, Executive Director of AEON CO. (M) Bhd and Madam Fully Chye Goet Lee, founder of Sewing World Gallery.
“AKEMI is the first bedding brand to introduce bed linens made of ProModal® to Malaysian consumers in 2013. It is an innovation made possible by blending two unique botanical fibres of Lenzing Modal® and TENCEL®. These fibres are also known as fibres from nature. The powerful combination makes the bed linens extremely soft and durable. The bed linens are also embedded with moisture wicking function, providing a cool and comfortable sleep.
The production process of ProModal® fibres is highly sustainable as timber from sustainably grown forest plantations is used for ProModal® production. With the relaunch today, AKEMI would like to highlight another important message as shoppers may now bring their old bed linens for a special price on AKEMI bed linens made of ProModal® fibres,” said Koay.
Koay went on to explain that, this month-long trade-in campaign (from April 11th to May 14th, 2017) also incorporates its corporate social responsibility (CSR) as AKEMI is in partnership with AEON CO. (M) BHD. to donate the collected old bed linen to Sewing World Gallery, a gallery that was formed by Madam Fully Chye with the mission to showcase the public various handmade artwork masterpieces that were created by their members from the less fortunate groups such as single mothers, disabled community and Orang Asli (known as Persatuan Seni Jahitan Kreatif).
“We have kick-started this old bed linens trade-in campaign within 18 participating AKEMI counters at AEON outlets which include Queensbay, Bukit Mertajam, Ipoh (Kinta City), Cheras Selatan, Taman Maluri, Shah Alam, Wangsa Maju, Metro Prima, Bandar Utama, Mid Valley, Bukit Tinggi, Bandar Baru Klang, Bandar Sunway, Bandar Puchong, Seremban 2, Bandaraya Melaka, Bukit Indah (Johor Bahru) and Tebrau City (Johor Bahru). This campaign is part of Eastern Group of Companies’ CSR initiatives to reduce waste going to the landfill and actively play a part in contributing to the needy. We are working hand in hand with our retail partner, AEON, to ensure the success of this campaign and aim to create public awareness on the reduction of waste, in conjunction with the World Earth Day on April 22nd, 2017. To add on, AEON has been actively participating in various projects with the mission of preserving the environment such as tree planting project, education for kids to preserve the environment and so forth. This is also one of the reasons that we are choosing AEON as our CSR partner for this campaign. We look forward to many more future projects with them,” explained Koay.
The ceremony was concluded with “Adopt A Plant” activity as invited guests and shoppers were given free mini plants to decorate with ornaments prepared at the promotion area. During the campaign period, shoppers may participate in the activity which allows them to take home a mini plant per person at selected AKEMI promotion areas in AEON.
