AEON CO. (M) BHD. (AEON) unveiled the latest collaboration for its AEON Raya 2022 Collection with Malaysia’s top fashion designer and entrepreneur, Dato’ Jovian Mandagie through an exclusive media launch at AEON Mall Shah Alam today.
This Raya, Jovian delves deep into the origins of Nusantara. Nusantara is an Old Javanese name that originally refers to the conquered provinces of the Majapahit kingdom, which backtracks to the 13th century. The ladies of the Nusantara islands, who are deeply embedded in history and culture were considered as the embodiment of beauty, become the inspiration of this premium ready-to-wear (RTW) collection.
Speaking about the collection, Low Ngai Yuen, Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer of AEON said, “Festivity is intrinsically tied to culture and tradition, yet a designer who is able to balance that with the freedom of modern expression – we are indeed very honoured to be able to work alongside Dato’ Jovian Mandagie who understands and translates this extraordinarily. Finally able to unpack the Nusantara collection to a long list of pre-order interests via our online iAEON Lifestyle platform, we hope our loyal shoppers will be as pleased as we have been hustling away in its preparation since October last year.”
Dato’ Jovian Mandagie, one of Malaysia’s most successful designers, is well-known for his Mal-Indo influences across alluringly crafted designs creating an accessible high fashion mix under the distinct aesthetics and labels of the Jovian Mandagie house (JM).
“Our first ready-to-wear collection was unveiled in August 2012. Since then, our RTW has catered to Malaysians women, ensuring that every woman looks beautiful in her outfits. The AEON x JOVIAN’s Nusantara collection was deliberately designed in the same way,” added Dato’ Jovian Mandagie.
Low Ngai Yuen quipped, “The AEON x JOVIAN Nusantara collection is not only for women, but also includes Raya wear for the entire family, including men and children. Also, the collection includes Jovian Mandagie’s flagship three-ply and KF94 masks in new designs to match with the festive outfit.”
