Kuala Lumpur, 18 November 2021
After almost 30 years of operation with full support from its loyal customers, AEON Mall Alpha Angle in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur is now undergoing a transformation through a renovation and upgrading exercise for the comfort of its stakeholders.
Since its opening in April 1992, AEON Mall Alpha Angle has become an iconic landmark in the Wangsa Maju area where it is not only a shopping centre but also a location for social and leisure activities. Numerous sweet and special memories have been created there.
AEON wants to continue to offer the best service standards to its customers and to connect the current generation with the historical reflections of AEON Mall Alpha Angle. This renovation and upgrading exercise combine the elements of the yesteryears and modernity.
The groundbreaking and doa recital ceremony held today at the main entrance of AEON Mall Alpha Angle marks the commencement of the renovation and upgrading exercise. It was officiated by Shafie Shamsuddin, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of AEON, attended by AEON’s senior management and employees as well as contractors and consultants of the exercise.
According to Shafie, “We are very grateful because for almost 30 years, AEON Mall Alpha Angle has been standing strong, catering to the needs of customers and being part of the livelihoods of communities nearby as well as those who come from near and far. It is our fourth outlet opened in Malaysia, as such, AEON wants to remain progressive and proactive to ensure its relevancy. Apart from the new look, several improvements on services will also be implemented.”
“The renovation and upgrading exercise expected to be completed in April 2022. For the first stage, the areas involved in the transformation process are mostly in the Atrium zone. Other sections will also be enhanced with the latest designs and services that will provide more comfort and convenience to the customers,” Shafie added.
For this transformation exercise, AEON applies the concept of Inclusivity, Digital and Experiential @ AEON or IDEA. The IDEA initiative emphasises the inclusivity of the ecosystem, digitalisation and the latest technologies offering a seamless shopping experience in providing for the needs of all generations.
AEON Mall Alpha Angle is also envisioned as an open-loop ecosystem that welcomes not just customers from all walks of life but also local businessess to the AEON ecosystem.
The transformation will also include the installation of solar power panels which will make AEON Mall Alpha Angle as the second AEON outlet to utilise solar power after AEON Mall Taman Maluri, Kuala Lumpur.
“We are very fortunate and grateful that AEON Mall Alpha Angle is located within the Wangsa Maju area which has been identified by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) as the first location for the zero-carbon township initiative. By being part of the initiative, it should further strengthen AEON’s aspiration in ensuring environmental sustainability,” Shafie concluded.
This initiative is in line with AEON’s effort to champion the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) through Responsible Consumption And Production (SDG 12) which is to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns, and Life On Land (SDG 15) to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.
