AEON GROUP OF COMPANIES IN MALAYSIA PLEDGE RM1,000,000.00 FOR “TÜRKIYE DISASTER DONATION DRIVE 2023” TO SUPPORT EARTHQUAKE RELIEF EFFORTS

Kuala Lumpur, 3 March 2023 – AEON Group of Companies including Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF) and AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad (ACS) have pledged to donate a total sum of RM1,000,000.00 to the Türkiye Disaster Donation Drive 2023.

The pledge was presented by Keiji Ono, Managing Director of AEON , to His Excellency Emir Salim Yüksel, The Ambassador for the Republic of Türkiye, in a simple but meaningful ceremony held at the Türkiye Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

The Türkiye Disaster Donation Drive 2023 has been initiated by AEON Group to support the ongoing earthquake relief efforts in Türkiye. This initiative has brought together customers, stakeholders, and business partners to raise funds for the cause and participate in this program.

The earthquake in Türkiye has caused a significant humanitarian crisis, and we are doing our part to support the ongoing relief efforts. We extend an invitation to our dearest AEON Group to join us in this cause together with your business partners, suppliers, vendors, and merchants.” said Keiji Ono.

Also present at the event were Datin Noryahwati Mohd Noh, President of MAF, Dr. Kasuma Satria Mat Jadi, Chief Human Resources Officer and Director of Communications of AEON, Lee Siew Tee, Chief Financial Officer of AEON Credit Service, and Faizul Hamzah, Chief Risk Officer of AEON Credit Service.

The earthquake that struck Türkiye has resulted in widespread damage and tens of thousands of fatalities. Hundreds of thousands of individuals have been injured, and millions have been displaced from their homes, causing a humanitarian crisis with shortages of food, medicine supplies, and liveable conditions.

Malaysian AEON Foundation is the corporate responsibility arm of AEON Group Malaysia. It strives to aid those who do not have access to basic needs such as education, shelter, and medical support.

It also aims to provide guidance to younger generations in addressing today’s social challenges regardless of race and religion, and to further develop their potential for a more meaningful future.
