AEON DISTRIBUTES ESSENTIAL AIDS TO KELANTAN’S FLOOD VICTIMS
Kota Bharu, 12th January 2017
A team of 10 staff volunteers from AEON Mall Kota Bharu joined hands to reach out to 200 victims affected by the flood in Kelantan to cope with the impacts of the flood.
The team departed on Tuesday from AEON Mall Kota Bharu and made successful journey to a relief centre in Pengkalan Chepa Kelantan.
AEON team moved to Tumpat to deliver RM20, 000 worth of essential aids such as food and household necessities. Among items distributed were cooking oil, sugar, canned food, disposable baby diapers, sanitary pad and instant drinks. The flood relief initiative is part of AEON’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade Co-operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) Kelantan to help the communities recover from the flood.
Tumpat recorded the second highest numbers of flood victims, after Pasir Mas with over 4,000 people affected. AEON hoped this short-term relief programme would be a great help to the flood victims.
“The flood has devastated the entire communities. We would like to extend our helping hands to the affected families to regain their daily livelihood. This is also the culture we want to nurture among our staff. These selfless volunteers have given their time and energy to be with the victims,” said Mr. Shinobu Washizawa, Managing Director of AEON CO. (M) BHD.
AEON has always had a keen focus on spreading CSR among the communities and we are proud to say a growing awareness has led many of our staff keen to participate
