Kuala Lumpur, 23 August 2022 – AEON CO. (M) BHD. (AEON or the Company) posts RM2.1 billion revenue for the six months ended 30 June 2022 (1H FY2022), marking a 11.1% increase from the RM1.9 billion achieved in the same period last year, driven by economic re-opening coupled with opening of national borders. The Company also recorded higher Profit After Tax (PAT) of RM75.4 million, 128.5% higher than the previous year corresponding period PAT of RM33.0 million, mainly attributed by improved sales and disciplined cost management.

AEON continues to make positive progress towards its sustainability journey by introducing AEON Sustainability Charter, the highest form of commitment by AEON towards championing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The Company has been awarded Sustainability Initiative of the Year – Malaysia at the 17th Retail Asia Awards 2022 for its ‘Sayap Bagimu’, an initiative to improve the economic status of the entrepreneurs, create employment opportunities and generate income for the local community. The Company has also been awarded Excellence in Halal Certified Food Outlets by Global Halal Excellence Awards (GHEA) and Excellence in Preferred Retail Store by Global Business Leadership Awards (GBLA).

The Company will continue to leverage its ecosystem especially in partnering and collaborating with its tenant partners, suppliers and AEON group of companies in Malaysia to unlock further the value from customer demand, customer experience and to mitigate the supply chain risk.
