AEON CELEBRATES CHINESE NEW YEAR WITH 450 CHILDREN AT MALLS ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Kuala Lumpur, 17 January 2020
The AEON MESRA programme which invites children from underprivileged families to shop for clothes and gifts, was held at 10 AEON malls this January culminating in an event at AEON BiG Kepong. This ongoing community activity which AEON started more than 15 years ago, has seen thousands of children shop with AEON employees and volunteers at every festive season throughout the country.
This Chinese New Year, the anchor event was hosted by AEON BiG where more than 100 children (together with 350 more) at other malls enjoyed a morning with AEON. Each child was given RM200 to shop at one of the 10 participating outlets: AEON Bukit Indah, Bukit Tinggi, Cheras Selatan, Ipoh Station18, Seremban 2 and AEON Big at Kepong, Batu Pahat, Falim, Ipoh, Puchong Utama and Wangsa Maju. Together with the shopping opportunity, the children were also given a RM50 angpow and treated to a lion dance and yee sang lunch.
“This is one of AEON’s favorite community programs. As ours is a family-oriented business, our employees, partners and volunteers look forward to participating in our AEON Mesra events at each festive season where there is much happiness and laughter all around. It is heartwarming to see children of all ages excited and thrilled when shopping for themselves and their loved ones and we hope that we will be able to continue to do this for as many children as we can in the future,” says Datin Yasmin Merican, President of the Malaysian AEON Foundation.
Together with Datin Yasmin and members of the AEON foundation, the event at AEON BiG Kepong was also attended by Mr. Ng Eng Kiat, Chairman of AEON Credit Service Berhad, Board Directors Datin Khoo Pek Ling and Puan Rashidah Abu Bakar, Hiroshi Watabe, Deputy Managing Director of AEON BiG and representing AEON’s Business Partners, was Mr. Ham Hon Kit, the Managing Director of Kumpulan Voir Sdn. Bhd.
