AEON BiG (M) SDN. BHD. APPOINTED SHEIKH FAROUK SHEIKH MOHAMED AS MANAGING DIRECTOR

Kuala Lumpur, 4 July 2022 – AEON BiG (M) SDN. BHD (AEON BiG) is pleased to announced that Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamed, previously Head of AEON BiG has been appointed as the Managing Director of AEON BiG with effective on 1 July 2022.

With full responsibility for the leadership and development of AEON B iG, Sheikh Farouk will play a key role in meeting the company’s growth goals in becoming the hypermarket which offers various choices with great values.

Sheikh Farouk,44 has 22 years of experiences in the retail, food and beverage as well as banking sectors with 10 years in overseas including Switzerland, Philippines and Singapore.

He first joined AEON BiG in 2021 as the Head of AEON BiG and within this short period has successfully driven the company on its digital transformational journey including various initiative and collaborations with government and non-governmental organisation in meeting the target.

During the pandemic season, he initiated various programme in meeting the need of AEON BiG’s ecosystem such as making AEON Midtown Falim Shopping Centre, Ipoh as the first centre for Retail industry Vaccination Programme (RiVAC) to vaccinate the retail workers in Ipoh, Perak, participated in the ‘Kad Prabayar Prihatin Penjaja dan Peniaga Malaysia’ as well as the IN2NIAGA application for hawkers and small traders in Malaysia and the ‘Jimat Poket’ campaign.

Prior to joining AEON BiG, he has served Nestle Group of Companies for 18 years a Finance professional with international exposure in Singapore, Philippines and Switzerland. He is also a Chartered Accountant from CIMA UK and a registered member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

AEON BiG (M) SDN. BHD. currently operates 21 hypermarkets under the trade name of ‘AEON BiG’ with more than 2300 employees in Malaysia. It offers various choices with great values. The acquisition is part of the AEON Group plans to expand the business in South East Asia and further develop their Asean operations.
