AEON MESRA DEEPAVALI CELEBRATES THE UNDERPRIVILEGED FOR A JOYFUL DEEPAVALI

Ipoh, 15 October 2022 – The Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF) continues with one of its flagships festive programme, AEON Mesra Deepavali, in anticipation of the upcoming Deepavali celebration at AEON BiG Falim, Ipoh.

In this event MAF works together with two organisations namely Sree Muneeswarar Temple and Persatuan Wanita Perak in bringing 80 children from 30 underprivileged households in Ipoh for a joyful Deepavali shopping experience at AEON BiG Falim. For this session each of them is given RM200 to get them a complete Deepavali clothing, shoes and other accessories. The activity is also assisted by volunteers from AEON BiG Malaysia Sdn Bhd, AEON Credit Service Berhad, and AEON CO. (M) BHD.

Apart from shopping for Deepavali clothes, each family received ‘Kotak AEON Bersamamu’, containing grocery items worth RM100 with additional RM200 ‘duit raya’ for their festive preparation. The children received RM50 each for their pocket money. The event was also enlivened with Deepavali kolam design competition participated by the children.

According to Datin Noryahwati Mohd Noh, President of MAF, “We will always extend our helping hands to reach those who need support, especially the children and unprivileged families, in accordance with the pledge of the foundation. We are pleased to collaborate with AEON Group for volunteers and the venues for the children to shop as they offer great choices for the Deepavali essentials.”

The event was also attended by Keiji Ono, Vice President of Malaysian AEON Foundation and Managing Director of AEON CO. (M) BHD.; Daisuke Maeda, Vice President of Malaysian AEON Foundation and Managing Director of AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad and Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamed, Managing Director of AEON BiG.

MAF has contributed up to RM90,000 in form of donation for this AEON Mesra Deepavali programme. Other than AEON BiG Falim in Ipoh, this programme is also participated by five other AEON and AEON BiG outlets namely AEON Mall Taman Universiti, Johor; AEON Mall Bandar Sunway, Selangor; AEON Mall Taman Equine, Selangor; AEON BiG Midtown Falim, Perak; AEON BiG Subang Jaya, Selangor; AEON BiG Bukit Rimau, Selangor involving 300 children in total.

Malaysian AEON Foundation always strive to give their highest support to initiatives and movement that are beneficial to the community and the Malaysian citizen. The AEON Mesra Program is in line with the foundation’s efforts to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) which is in line with the SDG 16 – which promotes peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive at all levels.
