As part of an ongoing community activity which started more than 15 years ago, the Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF), through its AEON Mesra programmes, kicked-off a special nationwide Ramadan event at the AEON MALL Kota Bharu on 18th May 2019. This will then be followed by similar treats at 11 AEON malls across the country on 26th May 2019.

AEON Mesra Ramadan this year has invited 560 children and 50 single mothers to shop for their baju raya with the help by employees from the AEON Group. Each child (and single mother) was given a voucher worth RM200 to shop for their raya outfits. At a launch event at AEON MALL Kota Bharu, children were given the opportunity to shop and also join Foundation members to berbuka puasa besides receiving RM200 duit raya. Single mothers received a donation of RM200 plus Raya essentials such as rice, cooking oil and cookies.

“As a retailer with a presence in Malaysia for 35 years, it is wonderful that through the AEON foundation, we have been able to share the festive spirit with communities through the years. Our employees and volunteers look forward to these annual events as it gives them an opportunity to spend a happy day with children without the financial means to shop, choose new clothes or toys at AEON stores.” says Datin Yasmin Merican, President of the Malaysian AEON Foundation.

Present at the event in Kota Bharu was Y. Bhg Dato’ Haji Ramli bin Ismail, Pengarah Tanah & Galian Kota Bharu, President Datin Yasmin Merican, Vice-President Shinobu Washizawa, MAF Committee Members and the management of the AEON Group of Companies.

On Sunday, 26th May, 8 AEON Stores and 3 AEON BiG outlets around Malaysia will host more than 400 children at malls and stores across the country. The children will each receive gift vouchers valued at RM200 to purchase new clothes and gifts from AEON AU2, AEON Wangsa Maju, AEON Bandar Dato’ Onn (JB), AEON Tebrau City (JB), AEON Taiping, AEON Bandaraya Melaka, AEON Queensbay, AEON Nilai, AEON BiG Ampang, AEON BiG Puchong and AEON BiG Alor Setar. Some of these events are also co-sponsored by AEON partners who have volunteered time and assistance towards the AEON Mesra Programme.
