346 CHILDREN AND 22 SINGLE PARENTS GIVEN A RAY OF HOPE
An RM80,600 Sinar Kasih Ramadan initiative by the Malaysian AEON Foundation
Johor Bahru, 17 June 2017
Embracing the spirit of giving this Ramadan, the Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF) extended a helping hand to the less fortunate during its annual Sinar Kasih Ramadan charity program.
The event, held simultaneously at 11 AEON outlets nationwide today, saw 346 children and 22 single parents from various charity organisations being treated to a fun shopping day out—with the children receiving a total of RM66,200 to spend on. They were joined by volunteers from AEON CO. (M) BHD. and AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad.
“Aidilfitri is near. While some of us are decking ourselves out in the finest baju raya, there are some others who don’t even know when their next meal will be—let alone what they will be wearing come Hari Raya. Happiness shouldn’t have to come at a financial cost, but unfortunately, it often does. This is where we step in. We want to help lessen the plight of the unfortunate and give them the joy of Aidilfitri that they so deserve,” said MAF President, YBhg Dato’ Abdullah Mohd Yusof.
The Sinar Kasih Ramadan event culminated in a grand affair as 178 children and all 22 single parents participating from 5 AEON outlets in Johor Bharu made their way to AEON Mall Tebrau City for playtime at indoor AEON’s entertainment centre, AEON Molly Fantasy and followed by buka puasa dinner.
In true Aidilfitri tradition, the dinner also saw each child walking away with duit raya worth RM50 each (a total of RM8,900). The single parents, on the other hand, each received a duit raya of RM150 and an RM100-worth go
odie bag filled with necessities such as rice, flour, cooking oil and sugar. The 11 participating AEON outlets are: AEON Mall Tebrau City, AEON Mall Permas Jaya, AEON Mall Taman Universiti, AEON Mall Kulai, AEON Mall Bukit Indah, AEON Mall Melaka, AEON Mall Rawang, AEON Mall Kota Bahru, AEON Mall Seri Manjung, AEON Big Kluang and AEON Big Wangsa Maju.
