Kuala Lumpur, April 1, 2020

The first Movement Control Order (MCO) enforced by the government has been successfully completed. It was difficult and challenging for everybody but we all understood that it was something that needed to be done. Today marks the first day of the second Movement Control Order which takes place from 1st April to 14th April, 2020. We adhere to the given instruction and we hope and pray that our nation will recover from this pandemic faster and that everything will turn out for the better soon.

With the implementation of the MCO, AEON Retail will offer a twenty-eight (28) day rental waiver for the period of 18th March 2020 to 14th April 2020 covering phase 1 and 2 of the MCO period. This offer is given to our valued partners within the non-essential business that are unable to operate at their premises. This rental waiver offer is subject to terms and conditions and is on a case to case basis.

“We thank our partners and retailers for their valuable support during these trying times and we understand their predicament. We express our support as we help ease their financial burden by offering them a waiver of rental during the first and second MCO period,” added Shafie Shamsuddin, Chief Executive Officer, AEON Retail (Malaysia).

The waiver of rental will be enforced throughout all 28 AEON Malls, and 18 AEON BiG Mall Hypermarkets nationwide.

We are constantly replenishing our stocks at the store level.”

“At AEON, we practice social distancing and we urge all shoppers to constantly maintain their distance while shopping with us,” commented Shafie Shamsuddin.

AEON staff are stationed throughout the mall to ensure that customers are keeping their distance There is a control in terms of number of shoppers who are able to get access to the outlet at any one time. At the cashier counters, customers are required to stand at a designated spot before proceeding to make payment.
